PamOfBabylon

If you like romance series with twists and turns, then you’ll love Pam of Babylon.

When Jack has a heart attack on the train from Manhattan, Pam and Jack’s two lovers discover secrets and lies, and each other in this contemporary romance with a touch of noir.

Excerpt

Jack Smith was thinking, I am the luckiest man alive. Sitting at a white-linen-covered table on the sidewalk outside of his favorite restaurant, he gazed at the perfect face of his mistress of nine months. This place was their place. They’d spent a rare night together, and in the early morning they were having a leisurely breakfast, enjoying the perfect weather of late May in New York.

“What do you have to do this weekend?” Jack asked, knowing this could be a dangerous topic. Sandra was sipping her coffee, head bowed but eyes on him. She slowly put her cup down and straightened up. He really wanted to know, interested in her life outside of where it meshed with his.

“After you leave, I’ll start getting ready for the week, and then I can relax tonight and tomorrow. Monday I’m having lunch at my sister’s in New Jersey. My schedule next week is fairly packed, so the more I can get done now, the easier it will be.”

She thought of her messy apartment, the empty refrigerator, the pile of laundry, but didn’t mention it. Jack’s solution would be to say, pay someone to do those things for you so you can do what you want. Your time is worth more than what it would cost.

“One thing I would really like to do is get back to that gallery on Houston and see if there isn’t a deal I can work out for the piece we saw last night.” She smiled at Jack, and they nodded their heads, remembering the vibrant painting of the Riverside Gardens. It was so colorful, the yellows and reds and blues exaggerated, the flowers oversized. They loved it.

“You should have said something while we were there!” he said, smiling at her.

He would have bought it then and there for her, but she really wanted to buy it for herself, knowing it was wise to keep things like community property out of their relationship.

They ate the rest of breakfast in silence. Soon, Jack would start fidgeting, pushing his chair back slightly, looking around and fighting the urge to look at his watch. Their time together would be over for now. Sandra would try to beat him to the punch; it was easier for her to be in control of this aspect of their life. His schedule would dictate when they could see each other, but she could be in charge of when it would end. Hating those last minutes while they waited for the check to come, she felt like she was sitting in a vacuum. Today was a little different, maybe because of the night before. It was so special having the evening together and then spending the night with him. The hotel was the same one they always used. It was clean and comfortable and—impersonal. But she didn’t allow herself to think of it.

He would not have argued if he knew what she was thinking. On one hand, he was wondering what was taking so long for the check to come as he had a lot to do at home, but on the other, he would miss her terribly. It took all the strength he had not to pout like a child when he was away from her. Thinking of his home close to the sea, the smell of salt air, he imagined the two of them sitting on the veranda overlooking the dunes and beach grass. But the face of his wife kept popping up on Sandra’s body, not allowing anyone to take her place, even in his thoughts.

She walked him to the subway, refusing to have him walk her home first. Rather than taking a cab, he often preferred the subway. She would shop on the way home, and he had a long commute, over an hour to his home on Long Island. They walked arm in arm, a striking couple to look at, he mature, greying at the temples and in good shape for his age; she young, model thin and beautiful, heads turned to look. Were they famous? The attention they got when they were out in public together pleased them, and they became even more animated, laughing, standing up straighter, happiness radiating from them both.

On Broadway, another observer took note of the radiant couple. Jack’s sister-in-law, Marie waited in the Saturday-morning bagel line at H&H.

Addison Cole Blog Tour & Giveaway!

NEW RELEASE……..

Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers features a group of fun, flirty, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They’re sassy, flawed, and so easy to relate to, you’ll be begging to enter their circle of friends! All books can be read as stand-alone novels.

Read, Write, Love at Seaside by Addison Cole is the sweet edition of New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster’s steamy romance novel Read, Write, Love. The stories and characters remain the same, and convey all of the passion you expect between two people in love, without any explicit scenes or harsh language.

In Read, Write, Love at Seaside…

Bestselling author Kurt Remington lives to write. He spends twelve hours a day in front of his computer, rarely leaving the seclusion of his beach-front property, where he’s come to finish his latest thriller — that is, until free-spirited Leanna Bray nearly drowns in the ocean trying to save her dog. Kurt’s best-laid plans are shot to hell when he comes to their rescue. Kurt’s as irritated as he is intrigued by the sexy, hot mess of a woman who lives life on a whim, forgets everything, and doesn’t even know the definition of the word organized.

Leanna’s come to the Cape hoping to find a fulfilling career in the jam-making business, and until she figures out her own life, a man is not on the menu. But Leanna can’t get the six-two, deliciously muscled and tragically neat Kurt out of her mind. She tells herself she’s just stopping by to say thank you, but the heart-warming afternoon sparks an emotional and unexpectedly sweet ride as Kurt and Leanna test the powers of Chemistry 101: Opposites Attract.

My Review:

I am officially addicted to another series! Read, Write, Love at Seaside was a wonderful romantic novel about Leanna and Kurt. Leanna is a free-spirited young woman living at her family’s cottage on the cape for the summer. Always unsure of what she wants in life, lately she’s been building a business making jams and jellies. Kurt is a famous suspense/thriller writer at his beach house for the summer to finish writing his latest novel. They are total opposites, but when she comes crashing into his world, the reader gets a fantastic look at opposites attracting.

This novel was full of romance and sweet moments between Kurt and Leanna (and also her crazy dog Pepper!). The language and sexy scenes are not R-rated, nor do they need to be. The writing and characterization are all that was needed to make this an exciting read that I could not put down! I can’t wait to read the next installment in the series!

Dreaming at Seaside (Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers Book 2)

Bella Abbascia has returned to Seaside Cottages in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, as she does every summer. Only this year, Bella has more on her mind than sunbathing and skinny-dipping with her girlfriends. She’s quit her job, put her house on the market, and sworn off relationships while she builds a new life in her favorite place on earth. That is, until good-time Bella’s prank takes a bad turn and a handsome police officer appears on the scene.

Single father and police officer Caden Grant left Boston with his fourteen-year-old son, Evan, after his partner was killed in the line of duty. He hopes to find a safer life in the small resort town of Wellfleet, and when he meets Bella during a night patrol shift, he realizes he’s found the one thing he’d never allowed himself to hope for—or even realized he was missing.

After fourteen years of focusing solely on his son, Caden cannot resist the intense attraction he feels toward beautiful Bella, and Bella’s powerless to fight the heat of their budding romance. But starting over proves more difficult than either of them imagined, and when Evan gets mixed up with the wrong kids, Caden’s loyalty is put to the test. Will he give up everything to protect his son—even Bella?

Dreaming at Seaside is the sweet edition of the steamy romance novel Seaside Dreams by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster.

My Review:

Dreaming at Seaside, the second in this series, was just as fabulous as Read, Write, Love at Seaside! This time the story focuses on the wild, outspoken Bella and a new police officer in town named Caden. Bella has decided to quit her teaching job in Connecticut and move to the Cape full time, hopefully heading up a new work study project with the local high school. Caden and his 15-year-old son Evan have just moved to the cape from Boston as Caden tries to recover from the death of his partner. Bella has sworn off relationships but can’t deny the attraction to Caden – but Caden doesn’t want a one night stand, he wants a relationship.

Bella and Caden’s story was wonderful, as was the chemistry between them. The writing was fantastic and this novel is an absolute page-turner from beginning to end. I love that the Sweet with heat series brings passion and chemistry into the stories without going overboard on the sexy scenes and language, just proving that leaving some things up to the imagination does not take away from the power of the story! I am officially hooked on this series and cannot wait to read book 3!

Hearts at Seaside (Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers Book 3)

Jenna Ward is vivacious, spontaneous, and confident—except when she’s around the man who stole her heart years earlier, strikingly handsome, quiet, and reliable Pete Lacroux. After years of trying to get his attention and overwhelmed from dealing with her mother’s new cougar lifestyle, Jenna’s giving up on Peter—and is ready to explore other men.

As the eldest of five siblings, with an alcoholic father to care for, boat craftsman Pete Lacroux always does the right thing and has no time for a real relationship. He’s looking forward to seeing his friend Jenna, a welcome distraction who’s so sexy and painfully shy that she equally entertains and confuses him.

When Jenna picks up a hard-bodied construction worker, jealousy ignites Pete’s true feelings, and he’s unable to ignore the desires for Jenna he never realized he had. But Pete’s not the quiet guy he appears to be, and his life is anything but conducive to a relationship. Title:  Love, Defined

Author:   Leila Tualla
 Published:  August 4th, 2015
Publisher:   Limitless Publishing, LLC
Genre:  YA Christian Fiction
Recommended Age:  Upper YA

Synopsis:  Into their final summer before graduating college, three childhood friends, Alex Makapulo, Lori Hanson, and Andy Taylor had each expected an uncomplicated transition to adulthood.
Alex is toying with the idea of leaving the Catholic Church and becoming a member of her best friend, Jack Page’s church. Jack wonders what is keeping Alex from being baptized and fully accepting a new life with Christ. Alex wonders the same thing and believes that she needs to be 100 % in her conviction before fully committing to a new Christian life.
For Lori’s twenty-second birthday, her grandfather, Pete Hanson, presents her with a summer vacation to England. While looking up various tourist spots, she meets and befriends Colin Watson, a British musician, online who then suggest they meet when she lands in London. They hit it off instantly but Pete is angry and believes that she only used him as a means to meet Colin. When he finds out that Lori met Colin online, he forbids Lori from seeing Colin entirely. Lori, who has fallen in love with Colin, is heartbroken. Pete threatens to leave England with Lori’s passport. Colin and Lori try to arrange meetups where they can see each other but Pete catches on. Lori takes this as a sign that it wasn’t meant to be. She unhappily finishes her trip with Pete and goes home vowing not to forgive her grandfather.
Andy reconnects with her old crush, Miles Webber and decides she wants a more meaningful relationship with him. She tells Alex about the situation and Alex truthfully tells Andy that Miles only wants her for sex. This angers Andy and she walks out of the apartment. After she’s cooled down, she comes up with an idea to throw a surprise birthday party for Alex. Andy believes that if Alex and Jack were to hook up, the focus would shift from Miles and her. Andy spikes all the drinks for Alex’s party and leaves her friend while she goes in search of Miles. He shows up at the bar with another girl. In an effort to soothe her wounded ego, she goes home with someone else. When she wakes up the next day, she realizes she’s in bed with Alex’s young boss from the coffeehouse, David Roberts, Jr.
When Alex wakes up the next day, she finds Jack in her room and freaks out. They figure out that Andy had spiked the drinks. Alex gets angry but Jack tells Alex that he is in love with her, and has been since they first met in ninth grade. It only confuses her all the more and causes her to contemplate whether he is God’s blessing or a test to distract her from her beliefs. While she has strong feelings for him, she chooses to ignore Jack’s confession and hopes that he moves on, as she doesn’t want to complicate their friendship.
Andy comes home and confess everything to Alex. Alex hesitatingly accepts the apology. Andy vows not to do anything crazy for the next few months and drops the Miles subject altogether.
When Andy learns she is pregnant and doesn’t know if Miles or David is the father, she decides to abort the baby, as she not ready to be a mother. Alex opposes the idea of abortion and begs Andy to change her mind. Andy doesn’t waver from her decision and even asks Alex and Lori to take her to a clinic.
Their trip to Houston tests their friendship and Alex’s faith. Can their friendship still survive after Andy’s decision? Will Alex find her conviction in the midst of this emotional roller coaster?

Excerpt from Love, Defined by Leila Tualla

Alex:

“Do you think no matter what we do, we are still forgiven?” Somewhere between Francesca Battistelli’s He Knows My Name and Casting Crown’s I Will Praise You In The Storm, Andy finally spoke. “I mean.” Andy stopped.
The last song had reached its thunderous ascent and rolled towards the finish. Alex had barely heard her and for a second, thought that perhaps she had imagined it. Almond shaped brown eyes locked briefly in the mirror with a pair of big blue eyes and Alex waited, expecting Andy to go on.
She didn’t. Instead, Andy broke eye contact and turned her head to face the window.
“Yes.” She finally replied. Andy jerked up, and the two caught each other’s gaze again before Alex had to look back at the road again, frowning. “We can be forgiven as long as we ask for forgiveness, and repent and promise not to do it again.”
Another song began and once again replaced the gap of silence. Alex turned her head this time to see Andy’s eyes closed, headphones on, effectively dismissing her. She sighed out loud and set her sights on the horizon.
Lord, I pray this won’t be the last time she asks about forgiveness.
Skyscrapers of oil and energy giants glistened as they neared downtown Houston. After some guidance with the GPS, her car pulled up into the tightly spaced parking lot of the Women’s Clinic. The brick building was among other non-descript buildings that they could have easily passed by. A lot better than a little backroom, Alex surmised.
“How did you find this place?” Lori asked reluctantly. Alex got out of the Volkswagen and immediately wanted to retreat back inside. The thought of what took place inside started to make her stomach churn. Despite the blaring sun and Texas humidity, she shuddered.
“The internet.” Andy mumbled the answer as she was getting out of the car.
The three of them stood in the parking lot, in a small circle, looking at their surroundings, the traffic behind them, and nervously at each other.
Alex fixed her eyes on Andy. She wanted to say that ‘You have to forgive yourself and then ask for forgiveness.’ But her lips couldn’t form the words. She had three hours on the drive to craft the perfect words to get through to Andy and yet, here they all were, under the Texas heat, in the middle of a parking lot, shivering with nerves and barely registering each other.
After a brief period of silence, Alex cleared her throat. “Andy, you can still change your mind.”
“I know.” Came the softest reply.
Alex’s jaw tightened, and she looked at her feet to hide her feelings once more. Again, her brain tried to tell her lips to formulate the words it wanted and she looked up to open her mouth again and frowned when no words would come. Again.
This time, Alex searched her friend’s beautiful face and prayed that somewhere in those blue eyes, she could find the one thing for her to go ‘Aha! You’re just as scared as I am. You’re just as doubtful about this thing. Let’s get out of here.’ Her heart sank when instead of those things she hoped to find in her friend’s eyes, she found a quiet and settled determination.
She swallowed the defeat, shoulders hunched down and felt there was only one more thing left to say. “You are loved, Andrea Grace Taylor, remember that. Find your courage.”
Andy just nodded with the faintest smile on her lips
“Okay, you guys.” Alex said trying to keep her voice light and tried to respond to Andy’s smile. It wasn’t working. “I’ll be at the Barnes & Noble we saw on the way here. Call me when you’re done.” She was heading for the car, when she turned around and added, “Call me if you change your mind.”
A few minutes later, she maneuvered in and out of traffic, half concentrating on finding the bookstore. The other remained back at the parking lot of the clinic. A bright green Scion cut in front of her with a slew of bumper stickers. Coexist and Got Jesus, but Alex fixed on the yellow sign with black letters that read “Headed in the wrong direction? God allows for U-Turns.” Andy. Dear God, am I doing the right thing?

Blog tour & review: When I Wake Up

When I wake up tour

Book Description

When I wake up cover

My Review:

I am so incredibly excited to bring you my review of When I Wake Up and to be a part of this blog tour! What an amazing suspense/thriller! For those who regularly read my reviews, you know how much I love a surprising, “whodunnit” novel and this met and exceeded my expectations. A dedicated teacher, wife, and mother to twins Anna is brutally beaten in the school parking lot, leaving her in a coma. Everyone is shocked, including her husband Erik, not understanding who would want to hurt Anna like this. As she lies in a coma in the hospital the police and Erik work to find any clues about her life that might lead them to the attacker.

When I Wake Up is an absolute page-turner! Everyone is shocked by Anna’s horrible attack and no one can figure out who would have done such a thing. However, as the book unfolds flashing back to the past, as well as, following Erik in the present, everything starts falling into place. Except, every time I thought I figured out who the attacker was, I was so wrong! Author Jessica Jarlvi weaves a complicated and tangled web of secrets and deceit leaving it almost impossible for the reader to figure out “whodunnit” until she decides to reveal everything.

I was blown away by the complexity and suspense of the plot, but have to mention the amazing character development. There are a lot of key players in this novel – most of which are possible suspects – but Jarlvi’s writing allows the reader the feeling that they truly know each character. This is most likely why I was so shocked when the attacker was revealed! I knew the character wasn’t perfect, like all of the characters, but never suspected that they were responsible for the attack.

For lovers of suspense/thrillers, do not miss out on reading this amazing novel! Hats off to Jessica Jarlvi, her incredible writing, and this amazing novel!

My Review:

We all say or hear the statement, “I couldn’t put it down” when describing books, right? If the saying wasn’t much older than Kate Sterritt’s new novel, Love My Way, then I would swear the phrase was coined specifically for this novel. I’ve said before that there are times when the hubby will come interrupt me to chit-chat while I’m reading and although I love him, it drives me crazy. He attemted to interrupt me while reading this but I resisted. Finally he said, “wow, that must really be a good one.” I read hundreds of books a year, but this one completely grabbed me by my heart, mind, and soul and I was entranced until the final page. Other cliche descriptions of novels include “unique” or “different,” but this goes beyond those terms. The author has told a story unlike any other, and I can ensure you that you’ve never read anything along this lines of this novel. Now that I’m done gushing, I will try to write a normal review.

You will notice very early in the novel what a likable character Emerson is. It starts in her present, then flashes back to when she was ten years old, seventeen years old, and then back to the present. Saying she came from a troubled childhood and home doesn’t begin to scratch the surface when describing Emerson, but that all changed the day she met Mereki. He became her first friend and first love. She discovered her love of art and the depth in which she could love another person.

Back to the present, we meet an older Emerson and also, the yummy, adorable, sexy, caring Josh. Things did not work out as planned regarding her and Mereki’s plans for the future and her career as an artist. But upon walking into Sarah’s home one afternoon, and then meeting Josh, her desire to be an artist is reawakened.

This is one of those novels that is extremely challenging to review without spoilers, so I’m going to quit while I’m ahead. However, my hat is off to author Kate Sterritt for not only creating a wonderfully romantic novel but one that completely shocked me. You won’t understand that until you read it, but I did not see the big surprise coming at all. Although heartbreaking, there is so much love and beauty to this novel. I cannot recommend this enough, and honestly I place this in my top 5 reads this year. Bravo the author and I cannot wait to read more from her in the future!

I met my muse at fifteen. I’d just gotten busted
for smoking behind the school gymnasium. She inspired me with her laugh and
nonjudgmental attitude and, before I knew it, we were inseparable. Then I left
to pursue my rock star dreams—dreams she encouraged.

I got over Jaymes Grenier no problem. I never
think about that little bow at the top of her pink lips, or the way her green
eyes admired mine. Nope, I barely recall the way she fit so perfectly in my
arms when I held her at night. The sweet way she would whisper she loved me has
long faded from memory.

These are the lies I regularly tell myself
in hopes of believing them one day. Yeah, I was told I’d get over my first
love.

I didn’t.

Derrick Masters marked me the moment we met back
in ninth grade. He called me over—all bravado and bad boy mystery wrapped in a
James Dean-esque package. Dark hair and blue eyes with a rebel without a cause
charisma. He was everything I was warned about, but I couldn’t resist. I
was his from that moment on.
His career took off almost as soon as he
did. I knew it would. I just thought I would be beside him as his partner in
crime, best friend, and lover. That’s what we had always been … before he left
me behind to fend for myself.

Fend? Fight is more like it.

I’ve been fighting ever since.

Fighting for survival.

Fighting for a better life in a world determined

I don’t have the luxury of letting my head live
in the lure of La La Land. His dreams may have come true, but mine were
extinguished. These days I fight for something bigger than me, bigger than we
were ever meant to be.

When his dreams come crashing back into my
reality, is this a second chance at that fairy tale ending or another
heartbreak in the making?

On the front porch, leaning against the wood column in all
his new found glory, stands the most breathtaking man I’ve ever seen. As a
teenager, I thought he was the best-looking boy I’d ever seen,
and based on how I’m struggling to breathe just from looking at him now, I
think he still holds the title. But now he’s a man.
Ace is talking about what some kid named Shiloh got in
trouble for today at school, but I’m still staring at Derrick Masters.
Derrick Masters.
My very own Perseus, though right now I’m thinking he was
more my Achilles heel in the grand scheme of things.
Derrick Masters is standing on my mother’s front porch like
he belongs there. A smile that shines like the star he’s become appears and he
waves. Not sure if it was the grin on his face or the wave that sends me
tripping flat on my face into the grassy lawn, but I’m cursing the curb when I
lift up and look right into the dark blue eyes I’ve tried to despise.
“Are you okay?” he asks, trying to help me up. His voice is
deep, the timbre the same one that always made my heart beat a little faster.
It’s not that thought that runs through my mind. It’s his hands on me,
grappling to help me to my feet.
He’s touching me.
Derrick Masters is touching me and I consider lying there
longer just to savor the feel of his calloused fingers again. Ace tugs at my
ankle like that will help me up. “Mommy, you fell.”
Mommy.
Mommy.
Derrick knows I’m a mommy.
Oh my God. What does he think?
Does he hate me? Disappointed in me? Happy for me? Or not
care at all?
I would care if I found out he has kids.
Maybe he already knew . . .
Maybe I’ll just lie here as long as I can until he goes
away.
Ace lies down next to me and rests his face on my hand.
Looking at me with wide eyes, he asks, “Are we playing a game? This is fun.”
“Yes, I quite like it here.”
I hear Derrick chuckling just above me, enough to feel his
warmth covering my body like sunshine as I lie in the cool grass. I might be
mistaken but it sounds like he’s behind me now. On the ground with me.
Ace’s eyes look over my head. “My friend is here too.” He
giggles. “See? Right there.”
Lying like a dead fish, I smile at my cute son not quite
ready to face Derrick Masters. “What’s your new friend’s name?”
“Derrick. He plays a guitar like you, Mommy.”
After a tap on the back, Ace’s new friend speaks, “Hi.”
I miss Derrick’s hands on me, even if it was just helping me
up. Ace is a ball of laughter and gets up. I watch until he runs behind me.
“I’m here now. We’re all here. This is fun. Oh look, the moon.”
I can’t avoid him forever and the grass is grounding,
literally, and settles my anxiety over just this kind of thing happening. I’ve
embarrassed myself and he’s found out I’m a mother in the course of one sexy
smile and a wave. I shake my head and close my eyes annoyed with myself for
acting so foolishly in front of him. He was once my everything. When
I roll onto my back, the top of our hands meet in an innocent touch that
neither of us bothers to retreat. Finally building enough nerve, I turn my head
and look straight into his eyes again. “Hi,” I whisper.
That devastatingly charming smile reappears, and he says,
“It’s good to see you, Jaymes.”

 My Review:

I hate to say that this was my first time reading S.L. Scott, but I assure you that it will not be the last! This is the story of sexy rock star Derrick Masters and his first and only love Jaymes (Jamie) Grenier. Derrick left years ago to follow his dreams and join the band The Resistance, while Jaymes has been trying to work, go to school, raise her son, and battle Reggie – one of the demons from Derrick and Jaymes’ pasts. During a break from the tour they see each other once again, but while Derrick is trying to win Jaymes back, she is busy trying to push him away.

I loved Jaymes right away – and especially Ace – but I didn’t truly warm up to her until more of her life was exposed. Her integrity and drive was amazing, as well as, her determination to provide her and her son a better life. Derrick quickly grew on me after the first chapter or so, leading to me eventually falling head over heels for his character!

The Rebellion was a great read because it’s a blend of romance, coming of age, rock star life, and also overcoming the bad in our lives. I can’t say that I was surprised by the events of the novel, but it was still a page-turner that I loved from the first word to the last. The main characters were outstanding, as were the secondary characters – which makes me want to go back and read the entire Hard to Resist series! S.L. Scott has created a fantastic story and journey about Derrick and Jaymes that you don’t want to miss!

Blog tour, review & giveaway: The Truth About Happily Ever After

The Truth About Happily Ever After
Karole Cozzo
(Swoon Reads)
Publication date: May 16th 2017
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

Chin up, Princess, or the crown will slip.

A theme park princess must put her life back together after her happily ever after falls apart in The Truth About Happily Ever After, a contemporary YA romance from Karole Cozzo, author of How to Keep Rolling After a Fall and How to Say I Love You Out Loud.

Everything was supposed to be perfect. Alyssa has a job she loves, working as Cinderella at her favorite theme park; a fantastic group of friends; and a boyfriend who will no longer be long distance. But as the summer progresses, her prince becomes less charming and more distant, and Alyssa’s perfect summer falls apart.

Forced to acknowledge that life is not always a fairy tale, Alyssa starts working to pull her herself back together. Fortunately, she doesn’t have to do it alone. With her friend Miller’s support, she’s determined to prove that she’s more than just a pretty princess. And with his help, maybe she’s finally ready for something better than dreams. Maybe she’s ready for something real.

My Review:

I’m so excited to a part of the blog tour for The Truth About Happily Ever After! This was my first time reading Karole Cozzo and just loved this sweet story. When the novel begins, Alyssa seems to be the perfect, beautiful, blonde sorority girl who is constantly happy, and she is, for the most part. Working at a theme park as Cinderella, she basically lives her life as if it were a fairy tale, until she starts to realize that everything is not as perfect as she thought. Although she experiences hurt and disappointment, Alyssa learns over the summer that life isn’t always a fairy tale and things don’t always go as planned.

This novel was fantastic in that the author took Alyssa from this happy, wonderful Cinderella, to being sad and feeling sorry for herself, to getting to where she was really getting to know herself and what she wanted. Alyssa had all of these “perfect” dreams and ideas about guys, marriage, work, and life – which there is nothing wrong with that. However, as the book progressed, Alyssa realized that happiness comes in different packages and in unexpected ways.

There are no words to express how much I adored Miller. He was the perfect blend of the fun guy friend and adorably sexy. His enormous heart and caring nature was evident so many times throughout the novel, and in so many ways. I was secretly rooting for Miller from the first moment that he was introduced in the novel!

I think this novel actually offers some great lessons to women of all ages. Despite the numerous times that Alyssa was wronged, she maintained very respectful composure, for the most part. She didn’t always deal with hurt in the healthiest of ways, but even when she was hurt or angry she didn’t behave in a way that she would regret later. Also, although this story reminds us that life isn’t always a fairy tale, it also serves as a reminder that our dreams can still come true! I would highly recommend this to YA/New Adult & College readers for a realistic, yet romantic story!
