Oh, how I love this third book in the Control Series, Misguided Control! In this installment, author Anna Edwards allows the reader get to know James’ personal assistant, Marie. In the first two novels, Marie isn’t exactly likable and appears more like an obsessed secretary trying to get her claws into James. When Callum Thatcher comes to work for James as his new Finance Director, he is immediately attracted to Marie, although she’s somewhat stand-offish at first. Thanks to some financial issues at their Rome office, Callum and Marie and thrown together quickly to travel and work together – which leads to undeniable chemistry and excitement!
As I said before, I wasn’t a huge fan of Marie prior to reading Misguided Control, but now I see her in a totally different light. My bimbo opinion of her completely transformed to my thinking of her as intelligent, caring, and devoted to her family. I loved Callum from the very beginning and that opinion did not change at all! He was the epitome of strong, sexy, successful, caring, and so much more.
One criticism or disappoint was the extremely fast pace of Callum and Marie’s relationship. I felt like their story was somewhat rushed and concluded quickly. Although I was surprised when it was suddenly wrapped up, I was excited about the bonus story with James, Amy, and their new baby.
The bonus story, Loving Control, was a quick read catching up with James and Amy towards the end of her pregnancy and after the baby was born. James struggled with some guilt and some serious over-protectiveness, but once again I was just pulled into their story and could not put it down.
I truly love this series and Anna Edwards’ writing. Her characterization and suspenseful plots are outstanding. Getting to know some new faces put a fresh perspective on this series and I cannot wait for the next installment to learn more about two other prominent characters in the series!
